Words from the couple: Our first date was March 25th of 2017. We met at Reata in downtown Ft. Worth, but the roof top we were planning to dine on was booked… for a wedding! It didn’t take us long to decide to find some tacos instead. We made our way to the patio at Taco Diner. Five hours later, we were still at the table, getting to know each other and sharing our stories. The conversation was deep and meaningful, and we wanted to meet again. Since then, we’ve been trekking back and forth between Dallas and Ft. Worth multiple times a week, and Justin has come to the realization that Ft. Worth is in fact, better than Dallas! We have learned a lot over the last year, about ourselves and each other, and we look forward to growing together as one, for the rest of our lives. We believe marriage is a gift from God, and it’s purpose is to bring him glory and make us more like him. We are committed to making him the foundation and center of our marriage. Psalm 34:4-9 Our Wedding day: We were SO nervous in the weeks before our wedding because June was approaching and that means one thing in Texas, HEAT! It was getting hotter and hotter with no relief in sight and the forecasted temperature for our wedding day was 107 degrees. That is HOT! We planned to fight the extreme heat by offering water to our guests before the ceremony and moving cocktail hour indoors. Luckily for us, a cool front arrived on our wedding day and the weather was just perfect! Everything else was too! Query Events did a great job bringing our wedding vision to life and we incorporated some awesome antique pieces from Justin’s shop, Legacy Antiques. Our ceremony was so special as our preacher Ben shared letters that we had written to each other and we shared communion as our first act of marriage while our friends and family worshiped with us. Following the ceremony we kicked off the reception with a kids dance, and OH MY GOODNESS! To our surprise the boys really got after it, ALL night long. To say they “tore up the dance floor” would be a complete understatement. Their wedding shoes had to be retired at the end of the night as they were scuffed beyond repair. We decided to serve pie to our guests instead of cake because we’re southern and we both love pie. Ironically, our pies were made by Cake-Aholics. They whipped up key lime, chocolate, cherry, and pecan. They were all delicious! During our pie cutting we sliced into a cherry pie and couldn’t stop eating it. We awkwardly fed each other an entire slice without a care that all eyes were on us. We ended the night with a homage to Neil Diamond as everyone gathered together to sing “Sweet Caroline.” Good times never seemed so good! Following our grand exit, we departed in Mr. Garrett’s SS Chevelle. As we approached Fort Worth, we caught the end of a fireworks show at the Botanical Gardens. It was an amazing finale to our special day! |
