Blake and I met during our freshman year at Texas A&M (Whoop!).  While Blake is convinced that we first met during a group dinner, I think we first met at the library some weeks later. Regardless, we quickly became friends and started dating in April 2011.

Blake proposed on December 23, 2016, in the Trinity Groves area of Dallas. We had arrived just as the sun began to set and Blake convinced me to take a walk on the levee before dinner. The sunset was truly beautiful that evening so at the time it didn’t seem like an unusual thing to do. I didn’t know that he was going to propose until Blake started playing “I See the Light” from Disney’s Tangled on his phone and I saw him get down on one knee. After some beautiful words from Blake and even more happy tears from me, I said yes!  The surprises weren’t over though – Blake pulled a floating lantern out of his coat pocket and we set it off! (As you can guess, we’re both big fans of Disney movies. Tangled is one of the first movies we saw together and one of my favorites. It’s no surprise that “I See the Light” was also our first dance!)

The most unexpected part of our wedding was the dramatic thunderstorm that rolled in right as our reception started! Fortunately the weather throughout the rest of the day was beautiful and we finished taking all of our pictures right before the rain began. If rain on your wedding day really is lucky, we sure started married life off with a lot of luck!

A special part of our wedding day was our last dance. While all the guests were lining up for the sparkler exit, Blake and I had one last dance in our reception space. With the stress of the day gone, we were able to soak up the last moments of our wedding with just the two of us and revel in the fact that we were finally married.
