Kali and Cliff Scott Wedding

by Jessica with Dallas Wedding Photographer, Adria Lea Photography

“Cliff and I met at church when I was 7. He was a little rapscallion and I was having none of it; he also wasn’t very interested in my rather nerdy self and my glitter phase was also a hard sell. Although we went to church all through high school, we ended up “reconnecting” during college through a mutual friend. Suddenly he wasn’t as obnoxious and I wasn’t as nerdy. I still loved glitter, but was a bit more judicious with it as eye shadow/body lotion. 🙂 We began dating… and just kept on dating.

We were together for 10 years before he proposed, and it was right after our 11th anniversary that we got married. We both knew that our relationship wouldn’t change in some big magical way with a marriage, but I think we were both finally in the right spot to formalize what we both knew. The proposal was at our favorite restaurant (Joe T Garcia’s) on my 31st birthday. We were surrounded by a small group of friends, and went back and continued to celebrate with more friends. He had my ring customized with my grandmother’s diamond, which really meant a lot. When I set out planning the wedding (less than 9 months!), I knew I wanted it to be as glittery as possible. I asked him to weigh in on what he cared about… and then just ran with it. My only objective (past getting married obviously), was to have a fun, pretty wedding. I wanted it to be something that didn’t feel generic, but had my personality in it. His only request from the beginning was that his groom’s cake be a replica of his college football stadium. Considering how much glitter I was using, it seemed only fair! It was a great night, and one that I would repeat again and again if given the chance.”

“I worked with Jessica for all of my pictures and she was so amazing. She was patient, kind and so easy going. We were a little late booking a photographer, and then waited until spring to take our engagement pictures. We had to reschedule once due to weather… but Jessica was a breeze through it all. She made me feel okay about rescheduling and working around our jobs, etc. We also really wanted our dog in some pictures… we knew that could be a pain, but we love our dog. She was fabulous! She just went with the flow and I think the pictures turned out wonderfully. Jessica has a great eye for natural light, which is something you don’t want to rely on Photoshop for. For my bridals I could NOT decide on a place to shoot at. I didn’t want a field or something that wasn’t “me,” yet I was terrified of getting my gown dirty… and we had two weeks until the wedding. She found the perfect place, AND got my pictures edited and back to me in record time so I could have them printed for the wedding. Again… breathtaking pictures! Then the wedding day! At this point I was seeing her every other week it seemed, and that was great. She knew me well, and I knew what she could do. She dealt with the stress of a wedding like a pro and got all the pictures from our shot list, and many more. It’s funny- I’ve heard some people talk about their photographers being a nuisance during the wedding… I don’t even remember her being there. I say that in the MOST positive way- because she was! I could rave on her all day. So, so pleased.” -Kali

If you’re still looking for wedding venues in the Dallas area, we have shot at The Orchard multiple times and it is always so gorgeous! They are super sweet, and the grounds, trees, and water are always kept so so nice! Also, the reception building has gorgeous features and a lot of natural light which is important for the best reception photos! It never fails to photograph beautifully! We love working there! 🙂
