I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching on minis vs. full sessions, and the pro’s of each. There are so many perks to both, so if you’re on the fence, or need help understanding the difference, here is some explanation to help:

Full Fall Family Sessions:

$750 Session Fee

One hour photo session in Plano, Texas

All edited photos are placed on an online gallery for viewing and printing

You will receive 10 full resolution digital images of your choosing from the gallery for use on cards, social media sharing, or printing. 

Additional full resolution digital images are available individually for $50 per photo, or $500 for the full gallery. These can be purchased at any time within 3 months after the session is posted. 

If you want the full photography experience with me, this is, without a doubt the session you want to go with. One of the things I love most about the families I photograph is really connecting with you on a personal level. I want to take the time to hear about your life, get on the same level as the kids and be silly, and take my time getting every shot just right. If kids are a little shy, or have a hard time warming up, it’s no problem. We have and hour, and I can work on getting mom and dad while the little one warms up. 

Another great benefit of having a longer session is the option to move around and get different types of scenery within one location. I also think it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway- with a full session, there will be more photos, and poses. With more time, I am obviously going to be able to squeeze every bit of it into getting as much variety and diversity as possible. 

A final big perk to my full sessions that I’ll mention here, is that I shoot my full sessions on film. Yes, you’ve got that right- those dreamy photos that you see on my Instagram were shot on film. You might have seen them and loved them, but couldn’t quite put your finger on it- it’s probably because it was film. I consider film the best of the best when it comes to the photography world, so of course I am going to offer that to you when you are booking a full session. 

Mini Family Sessions

Option 1: Studio Session

This is the first year I’m offering Mini Studio Sessions, and I’m so excited! These sessions are short and sweet with a 15 minute session time, and perfect for those Christmas card photos, and Christmas gifts for family. These sessions are perfect if you aren’t needing a full family session, but want a quick updated photos. The benefit of the indoors, is that weather doesn’t affect the sessions whatsoever. The studio set-up will be Christmas themed, and I recommend neutral attire, but I’m happy to help if you can’t decide.

$250 session fee

15 minute session at a studio space in Rockwall or Royce city (TBD)

All edited photos are placed on an online gallery for viewing and printing

10 full resolution images of your choosing from the gallery for printing and sharing

The remaining images will be available for purchase for an additional $300 at any time within 3 months after the session is posted.

Option 2: Outdoor Session

Mini family sessions are such a wonderful way to get a quick session in with the family for the season. One of the most noticeable differences with a mini session is going to be the lower price, and that is why a lot of families decide to go this route. 

I shoot my mini sessions on digital, compared to film for my full sessions. Digital sessions are faster paced, and film can slow things down a bit, so it is the most practical use of your time to shoot digital when we only have 30 minutes to get photos in. I have also been shooting digital for over 12 years, just as most photographers have, and I built my entire business on these cameras- you will get beautiful photos of your family!  

Mini sessions are also very limited and only shot on specific dates at certain times of the year. It could be another year before I offer any more.

A few pro tips for my sessions with kids:

Arrive AT LEAST 30 minutes early. This gives you time to get the kids out of the car, straighten them up, and let them stretch their legs for a few minutes before starting the session. If you are going to be in the car for a long time headed to the session, or your kids like to sleep in the car, you probably want to get there even earlier to make sure they are fully awake. 

I recommend having the kids arrive with full bellies. I get it- I get hangry, too, but hangry kids usually don’t favor the camera. Bringing them hungry and bribing with snacks usually turns out with a kid with graham crackers stuffed in his mouth for every photo. I mean it’s still super cute and real life, but probably not what you were imagining for your portraits.  DO bring water for everyone. 

Wait to dress the kids until you get to the session, and bring a neutral backup outfit juuuuuust in case- you never know what can happen!
