Wildflower Styled Shoot

This post of this boho themed wedding has been LONG time coming, and I am so excited to finally be able to share this amazing shoot with you all. I have so many things to say about this photo shoot and all of the vendors involved, so let’s get started!

If you aren’t a photographer or wedding vendor, you may have no idea what all goes into a styled shoot and the hard work to make it happen. Just imagine planning an entire wedding…except there aren’t any guests. The great news is, you don’t have to feed a bunch of people, but it is a LOT of fun work! We get to come together with other creative genius vendors and make a dream wedding of our own!

Then you have that element of SURPRISE! You may already know that something is bound to not go perfectly at any given wedding. This also applies to a styled shoot when you have tons of people coming together to make magic happen. But I am so unbelievably impressed with the vendors involved with the shoot, and the extra work everyone had to put in to make it happen. Let’s just start with Hurricane Harvey… yeah the one that completely flooded Houston and caused a massive panic and gas shortage all the way to DFW. Harvey hit just a week before our styled shoot, and the gas crisis the day or two before. Our models were driving in from Louisiana, and other vendors from hours away and we were all a nervous wreck about making it happen. Even florals weren’t as readily available because of the shortage. But everyone.showed.up! Then they all had to deal with me and my crazy newly pregnant self. And boy- was I SICK! I actually came to find out later that I lost over 12lbs during my first 8 weeks from being so sick, and this shoot landed right smack in the middle of it all. Obviously, I wasn’t going to miss it for the world (and people were counting on me). Domonie with Wild Rose Events had all kinds of cooling mechanisms to help keep me stable as I struggled in between shots to keep the day’s liquids down (food was out of the question). We powered through and everyone was incredibly patient with me as I had to sit frequently and cool off.

So let’s talk a little more about the people involved in the shoot because I seriously want/need to brag on them some more. The best weeding vendors in DFW are:

Caitlin and Chandler: our models are actually a couple in real life and were engaged during this shoot! Can you feel their amazing chemistry? They are actually getting married in exactly a week, and I can’t wait to see all of their photos!

The Wildflower Wedding and Special Event Venue is absolutely STUNNING! They were still wrapping up construction on the new space out in Emory, Texas, but you have go to go check it out on their website! It is a gorgeous white barn with tons of windows and natural light that will make any girls’ wedding dreams come true. I also think it says a lot that we are able to do a full styled shoot on their property without even needing the building! The property is gorgeous and they have added some of the sweetest touches, such as the boat on the pond and the wooden swing under a giant tree overlooking a beautiful field. Can you see me drooling now just talking about it? Debbie, one of the venue’s owners, was as sweet as it gets. As a bride, I would absolutely love to work with her!

Wild Rose Events is one of those one of a kind vendors. Domonie and I became very dear friends after she rescued a photoshoot of mine when the florist bailed. Since then, I have seen her come to the rescue of many other brides. She is one of the most selfless people I know, and has incredible integrity. Her work speaks for itself, as it is unique and gorgeous! She is always challenging herself and trying new things such as the circle arch in this shoot that her team built themselves! She and I co-planned this shoot, and I just couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Another styled shoot we worked together a few years ago that was highly published can be found here. Head to Carolyn’s wedding  or Janae’s wedding to see  real weddings we recently worked together. She also did the florals for my very own sister, Amanda of The Miller Affect all the way up in Canada (will be on the blog soon!)!

Lynette at Providence Place Bridal in Rockwall was AMAZING! She literally opened her new storefront the day we needed to come in to pick out a dress. You would think with all of the busy-ness going on, she wouldn’t have much time for us, but she treated us as if we were her only customer, at the same time while giving incredible service to her lovely potential brides. We had such a hard time picking a dress because she had so many beautiful options. She even let us leave with TWO so that we could think on which one we wanted to use most.

Shayla with Sweet Art Custom Cakes *might* have been one of my favorites! I told Domonie that my only request for the shoot (or payment if you’d like to call it that), was to get to take home all of the sweets Shayla delivered! Because let me tell you… I have had her goodies before, and there is nothing like them! They are incredibly gorgeous AND they taste good…does it get any better?

Now, can we just talk about Q The MUA for a second? She did our model’s hair and makeup (and let’s not forget that gas shortage thing) and opened her own home to make it happen. Our model looked stunning and her hair and makeup lasted ALL DAY through hours of sweat and heat!

Last but not least, those lovely invitations were designed by Cherie with My Cherie Amor Designs. Invitations were one of our last thoughts, and I knew exactly who to call who could get the job done in a short amount of time without sacrificing an ounce of quality. She even hand delivered them to make sure I had them in time! I always love working with her, and you will find one of the shoots we worked together on the very front page of her site!
