Cristina and Chris Rupp Wedding

April 19, 2017

This is the perfect DIY wedding! Cristina put so much thought and effort into creating all artificial bouquets, flower crowns, centerpiece decorations, and other wedding décor! She also did her own makeup and they rented the bridesmaid dresses from Rent the Runway! Props to Cristina for being the #1 DIY bride!

“Chris and I met in the summer of 2010 when he was back home in Houston working a summer job and I was completing my internship for what would be my full-time job. We met for the first time at our mutual friend’s birthday party at the beginning of the summer but only briefly talked – it was definitely not love at first sight. Neither of us really thought anything of it and went about our separate ways. As the summer went on, one of our other mutual friends decided to take the initiative in match-making since the birthday party didn’t work and gave him my number. Chris reached out to me, knowing I didn’t know many people in Houston, and we went out for a movie and this time bonded over our love of college football and mutual respect for his Honda Civic. As the summer ended, we both went back to our respective rival schools (Texas A&M and the University of Texas) with the intention of “seeing how things would go” although we had already had many great dates together. Back at school, we talked for hours on the phone and it was obvious we would just end up dating long distance. Despite decades of rivalry between our two schools (oh, and the long-distance aspect of course), we made it work, both eventually ended up in Houston, and here we are seven years later! He surprised me one day after work with a ring in our apartment, knowing I wasn’t one for big, splashy proposals and because the apartment was our first home we made together.
We loved the opportunity to gather all of our family and friends from all over the country together in one place and tear up the dance floor! Now that everyone has grown, graduated, and moved away from home, we cherish all the times we get to have a reunion with our family and friends and have the best time together possible. One of our favorite moments of the wedding was probably seeing people of all ages get down to “Hot in Herre” by Nelly.”
